Pick of the Day 8/4/20

Happy Wednesday everybody, and I hope you’re having a great run up to Easter weekend. There’s no shortage of chocolate in the stores near me. It’s lucky it’s not the annual festival of pasta and toilet roll.

Here is our daily pick of some of the best ideas for what to WATCH, LISTEN to or CREATE today. As always, we would love your comments on Twitter or below the line. Have a great day.

WATCH

You don’t have to look far today, as this very website will be the venue for tonight’s RGS LIVE. We’re journeying back to 2015 this time and bringing you the hilarious Abigail’s Party, for which we converted the Drama Studio into a 1970s living room! Simply visit rgsdrama.net (the home page) at 7.30pm and follow the links to RGS Live. There will also be a short documentary with the cast talking about their memories of the production.

Also, and possibly even more of a draw if such a thing were possible, the wonderful and incomperable EMMA RICE (Kneehigh, Wise Children, The Globe) is giving a live-streamed talk on directing theatre. It’s from 5-6pm and you can find the details through the NSDF Facebook Page

If you can’t wait until 5pm, you can also watch the award-winning musical Everybody’s Talking About Jamie in full on YouTube right here

LISTEN

It’s been up for a while, but it’s worth a reminder that Audible have made vast swathes of their content available for free for a limited time.

CREATE

Joseph Herscher has been making clever Rube Goldberg machines for a long time, and has over eight hundred thousand subscribers to his YouTube channel. You can check out his latest invention here. Why not try making your own machine at home?
