Pick of the Day 10/4/20
Well, Friday is finally here and I hope that, like us, you’ve been enjoying a week packed full of theatre and online treats. If you haven’t yet seen Jane Eyre from The National Theatre I strongly urge you to. It’s available for the next seven days and it truly is three hours of the most magical theatre. But there’s even more in store below.
WATCH
Today it’s impossible to look past Andrew Lloyd Webber’s decision to allow free streaming of some of his shows each Friday at 7pm. Last week was Joseph, but this week is even more exciting, as you can watch Jesus Christ Superstar, starring Tim Minchin, Mel C and many others. The stream will go live at 7pm, and you can watch it by clicking below.
As it’s Easter weekend, we’ll be taking a break from daily updates, but we can leave you with the definitive guide to what to watch to get your cultural fix, which has been assembled by some people even cleverer than us. Click below to find links to everything you could possibly want, arranged by genre. We’ve linked to a lot of it before, but here it is in one place. You’re welcome!
CREATE
Finally, our friends at Director’s Cut Theatre have launched a massive open call for new writing, which they are calling Lockdown, Open Up. They’re asking for submissions of approx 2 mins about your experience in lockdown or quarantine, which will be made into a live play in the future. Head to the website for full details.
